Lists have an irresistible magic - Umberto Eco

Ok, the heading was lifted right off this article that we want you to have a look at.
It's a TOI compilation of must-reads.
And we all worship TOI.
Anybody who doesn't can show themselves out right now.

- Thanks to Vatti for this tip.

  1. We all, um, love, TOI? Since when?

  2. We just do.
    Peripheral Love and all.
    Very Circumstantial, but still.

  4. Suchi, you're being sarcastic, right?! Seriously, tell me you are. I agree that Crest is several thousand notches better than TOI because they have real articles, as opposed to uninformed opinions and they cover a HUGE range of issues -- TOI as it probably was, some 50 years ago. But even Crest sort of let me down with this list -- I remember reading it in the paper. I can't judge the books they've put there because they have their reasons -- which is pretty much a description of most of the books there-- but honestly, I can't say I think much of their idea of putting together a list that actually has no focus. As far as I can see, it appears to be like a bestseller list. I really did expect more from Crest, considering the quality of the articles they carry.

I'm not even TALKING about regular TOI here. Crest and The Hindu seem to be the only newspapers worth reading in this country.

  5. @sharan: Oh, exactly, no theme running here is there?
You know, I've quite had it with the bestseller lists now.
    They are always same.
    They are ridiculously varied.

As for Hindu, I haven't quite read it properly. So can't comment.

  6. No, there's no theme here but you both have superior taste to those idiots making those lists. You know that :)
